KYEAC: Golf Tournament Fore Horses

The Kentucky Equine Adoption Center is a non-profit organization with a mission to help, heal, and home the state's most at-risk equines, regardless of breed.  For almost 20 years, we have rescued and rehomed thousands of horses.  Proceeds from the tournament will help feed and care for our herd of formerly-neglected horses.   Monday, October 7, 2024   Marriot Griffin Gate Resort 1800 Newtown Pike, Lexington, KY   Shotgun Start 1:00 P.M. DEFHR: Horsemanship Lessons with Sara Strauss & Leigha Schrader

Registration includes a 1-hour semi-private lesson with one of DEFHR's trainers; Pairings and instructor are to be decided based on experience and personal goal setting. All levels and abilities welcome! DEFHR horses are available for borrow (groundwork lesson only) OR trailer in your equine partner (groundwork and/or riding lesson). Lesson time slots will be determined after registration via email. Come for just your time slot, or come for the whole day and audit with your fellow clinic participants! About our Trainers: Sara Strauss has been DEFHR's Head Trainer for over 15 years, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience in everything horses. She is known for her quiet communication and has worked in a variety of disciplines, from dressage to western riding. Sara is passionate about educating the adult horse person on ways to better communicate with horses, whether it is on the ground or under saddle. Her focus is on biomechanics and body position, both in and out of the saddle. Wherever you are on your horsemanship journey, Sara is ready to meet you where you are at. Leigha Schrader's passion for DEFHR and the rescue horse shines through in everything she does. Leigha's training methods focus on finding balance in all areas of horsemanship. She incorporates positive reinforcement, clicker training, and liberty/trick training into her programs. Leigha is passionate about starting horses ethically from the ground up and showcasing how amazing rescue horses can be through her liberty performance work. Under saddle, Leigha has found success on the local and rated Hunter/Jumper circuits. She enjoys teaching compassionate horsemanship, both in and out of the saddle!   FEE: $75/person

These open houses provide an opportunity for our community ACO to learn and practice necessary equine handling in preparation for equine seizures and cases involving equines. Attendees practice haltering, leading, and trailer loading in addition to learning about basic equine body language, equine body scoring, and how to approach scared/nervous/upset equines. Redwings Horse Sanctuary: Equine Photography Workshops With the Essence Captured Equine Photography Group Afternoon Workshop

Time & Location Oct 18, 2024, 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM Paso Robles, 6875 Union Rd, Paso Robles, CA 93446, USA About the event Calling all Equine Photography enthusiasts!  Come learn from three experienced equine photographers (Lori Sortino, Deb Hofstetter, and Cathy Wallace) who have worked together since 2019 photographing horses.  Together we have produced thousands of horse images, including portraits, action, running, jumping, detail, artistic, technical, competition, and candids.  We will teach you how to capture great horse images under various conditions, and how to work with the real world challenges of backgrounds, lighting, and horse behavior!   Workshop Limited to 8 participants.   Where will the Workshop Take Place? We will be photographing the horses (and burros if you wish!) at Redwings Horse Sanctuary, located at 6875 Union Rd. Paso Robles, CA 93446  The Sanctuary is about 20 minutes from town.   What's included in this workshop? Does your 6 to 12 year old love horses and donkeys? Register for the best kind of story time there is! Children choose a book and help socialize our rescue horses by reading to them in a comfortable spot along our fields. This is the perfect, encouraging environment to create a love of reading (or help it grow even more!) for your animal-loving learner. We will provide books, or please feel free to bring your own. Hope’s Legacy staff will be on site to provide introductions to the horses as well as our work on the farm to provide a safe space for equines that are looking for their next loving home.
