DEFHR: Horsemanship Lessons with Sara Strauss & Leigha Schrader
Days End Farm Horse Rescue 1372 Woodbine Road, Maryland, United StatesRegistration includes a 1-hour semi-private lesson with one of DEFHR's trainers; Pairings and instructor are to be decided based on experience and personal goal setting. All levels and abilities welcome! DEFHR horses are available for borrow (groundwork lesson only) OR trailer in your equine partner (groundwork and/or riding lesson). Lesson time slots will be determined after registration via email. Come for just your time slot, or come for the whole day and audit with your fellow clinic participants! About our Trainers: Sara Strauss has been DEFHR's Head Trainer for over 15 years, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience in everything horses. She is known for her quiet communication and has worked in a variety of disciplines, from dressage to western riding. Sara is passionate about educating the adult horse person on ways to better communicate with horses, whether it is on the ground or under saddle. Her focus is on biomechanics and body position, both in and out of the saddle. Wherever you are on your horsemanship journey, Sara is ready to meet you where you are at. Leigha Schrader's passion for DEFHR and the rescue horse shines through in everything she does. Leigha's training methods focus on finding balance in all areas of horsemanship. She incorporates positive reinforcement, clicker training, and liberty/trick training into her programs. Leigha is passionate about starting horses ethically from the ground up and showcasing how amazing rescue horses can be through her liberty performance work. Under saddle, Leigha has found success on the local and rated Hunter/Jumper circuits. She enjoys teaching compassionate horsemanship, both in and out of the saddle! FEE: $75/person

The Event There's no requirement to be a horse person to enjoy the "event of all events!" This is going to be one amazing gala with a three-course, plated dinner, an open bar, and plenty of entertainment. Take advantage of photo ops to send back to friends back home. Let your competitive side run wild when we host a live auction of some amazing trips, artwork, jewelry, and other offerings. Throw some tickets into the raffles and bid on some silent auction items while you're at it and it all goes to a good cause! The Location There's no requirement to be local to attend this event! Located at the gorgeous Martin's West in Baltimore, it is centrally located on the East Coast. People are flying in from all over the country just to attend the ATR Gala! KYEAC: Polo Tournament Sponsored by Park Equine Hospital
Kentucky Horse Park 4089 Iron Works Pkwy, Lexington, KY, United StatesSee you in September for an evening of Polo matches, tailgates, entertainment and prizes! Park Equine Hospital, in collaboration with the members of the Lexington Polo Club, is sponsoring a Polo Tournament to benefit the Kentucky Equine Adoption Center (KYEAC). Support this nonprofit that helps, heals, and homes, Kentucky's most at-risk horses of all breeds. All proceeds from the event will go to KYEAC. Entertainment before the event and at intermission will be provided by the Ranahan Trio! Tickets are on sale now for tailgate spaces, first come, first served. We are offering two options, VIP taligate locations for $100 and general admission for $50. VIP tailgaters will receive: Prime parking location in exclusive area to watch the tournament. The opportunity to participate in the Best of the Best Tailgate Contest. First prize for the best tailgate will win bragging rights and a mint julep cup! Other prizes will be awarded. General Admission: Those who purchase general admission parking passes will be located on the ends of the Polo field and will not be eligible to participate in the Tailgate contest. There willo be music during intermission and activities for kids. Plan your tailgate and come out and see Polo in person, all while helping Kentucky's most vulnerable horses from KYEAC!

Take part in Hope’s Legacy’s Horsemanship Program led by our equine experts. Our staff will guide your child through learning all things equine from breed, color, and horse type to grooming and general care. This is a time to be hands-on with their favorite animal in a friendly, fun environment that will expand their knowledge working from the ground. Days End Farm Horse Rescue: Equine Cruelty Investigators 2-Day Course
Days End Farm Horse Rescue 1372 Woodbine Road, Maryland, United StatesA two-day intensive hands-on seminar designed to help cruelty investigators feel confident working with and handling equines. Any cruelty investigator who does not work with horses on a regular basis would benefit from this instruction. This course will prepare you to feel more self-assured around horses, have a better understanding of the equine mind, and be better prepared to determine when a horses needs are not being met. Topics covered include: Case Histories, Horse Handling and Safety, Hoof Anatomy and Hoof Problems, Use of Height and Weight Tapes, Color and Breed Identification, Dental Care of Equines, Trailering Tips, Body Condition Scoring, Examining for Illness and Injury, and Minimum Horse Care Standards. REGISTRATION FEE: $100.00 (lunch included, both days)
