Virtual International Forum for the Aftercare of Racehorses Series
The International Forum for the Aftercare of Racehorses (IFAR) will be hosting its fifth forum as a virtual series on each Tuesday during the month of April. The sessions, which will include a combination of prerecorded content and live discussions, will be held on 6, 13, 20, and 27 April at 12 p.m. GMT and will each last approximately one hour. The timing has been selected so that people can dial in wherever they are in the world – evening for the Australasian time zones, middle of the day for the European time zones, and early morning for the American time zones. All sessions are free, but registration is required. Recordings of each session will be made available on the IFAR website. Kentucky Horse Park 4089 Iron Works Pkwy, Lexington, KY, United StatesThe Thoroughbred Aftercare Summit, a joint effort of the Retired Racehorse Project (RRP), Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA), The Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program (T.I.P.), and Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA), returns to the Thoroughbred Makeover on October 11, 2022 at the Kentucky Horse Park. This year’s summit takes a unique angle compared to past conferences, which traditionally include panel-based discussion on a variety of topics. The 2022 Thoroughbred Aftercare Summit will take a hands-on workshop approach, allowing attendees (both in-person and virtual) to problem-solve through various scenarios that commonly face individuals and organizations in aftercare. Subject matter experts will help guide participants through a series of practice scenarios including biosecurity best practices, natural disaster preparedness, facility issues, and more. Event Details The Thoroughbred Aftercare Summit takes place from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the TCA Covered Arena Lounge on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, one day prior to the start of preliminary competition at the Retired Racehorse Project’s Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium, presented by Thoroughbred Charities of America. Registration is required. The cost to participate is $10 per person, which will be collected as a donation and awarded as a 50-50 to a randomly-selected aftercare organization in attendance. Registration will also include access to the live stream of the conference via Zoom so attendees can participate from anywhere in the world.

52nd Annual Eclipse Awards
January 26, 2023 The Breakers One South County Road Palm Beach, FL 33480 As the Official Charity Partner, the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) will have a presence at the 52nd Annual Eclipse Awards held January 26th at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Fla. In-person attendees of the Eclipse Awards will have the opportunity to donate to the TAA and learn more about its mission through on-screen displays of TAA’s messaging. “As we convene to recognize the most accomplished horses and humans of 2022, the NTRA is proud to recognize the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance as the Official Charity of the 52nd Eclipse Awards,” said NTRA President and CEO Tom Rooney. “The work of the TAA is vital to the longevity of our sport, and we hope everyone dependent on these magnificent creatures for their livelihood and enjoyment will join us in honoring them during this time of reflection and beyond.” In conjunction with NTRA, Lilly Pulitzer will host a “Sip, Shop, and Support” event from 11am-3pm with 10% of the proceeds to benefit the TAA. In addition to the free beverages provided by Lilly Pulitzer, the TAA will be raffling off a hand-painted Lilly Pulitzer purse. Raffle tickets are $20 with 100% of proceeds benefitting the nationwide aftercare nonprofit.
