The Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event at The Kentucky Horse Park Thursday April 27th- Sunday April 30th, 2023 The ultimate test of horse and rider! One event, three disciplines, testing the resolve of the timeless partnership between horse and rider. DRESSAGE on Thursday and Friday is held in the breathtaking outdoor stadium at the Kentucky Horse Park, where spectators enjoy the grace, refined beauty and elegance of dressage as competitors trot their way through the first phase of competition. Dressage, which tests the gaits, suppleness and obedience of the horse through a series of prescribed movements. The Second phase, CROSS-COUNTRY, is the highlight of Eventing. Saturday is the most exciting day of Kentucky Three-Day Event as thousands gather to watch horses and riders gallop over four miles of the challenging terrain, at speeds up to 25 mph, while negotiating remarkable obstacles, water hazards, banks and ditches. The JUMPING TEST, the final phase, brings the energy and precision of jumping back to the outdoor stadium on Sunday. Spectators from across the globe witness the world’s finest horses and riders test their athletic ability, conditioning and training as they soar over obstacles.

NYRA Community Booth: Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance

The Community Outreach Booth program will highlight a total of 40 non-profits throughout the season by sharing information about their work and fundraising initiatives. NYRA will also prominently feature its Community Partner of the Day in the Post Parade racing program which will be available for purchase at select retail locations across the Capital Region as well as throughout the New York City metropolitan area. The Thoroughbred Makeover

What? The largest Thoroughbred retraining competition in the world for recently retired ex-racehorses When? October 9-12, 2024 Where? Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington Who can participate? Accepted trainers (professionals, amateurs, juniors and teams) who apply between January 2 - January 19, 2024, with Jockey Club-registered Thoroughbreds who marked a workout or race after July 1, 2022 and did not have more than 15 retraining rides prior to December 1, 2023. Late applications are also open through the end of June. How are horses acquired for competition? Trainers are responsible for acquiring their own eligible horses, whether through an aftercare organization, directly from track connections, or through a reselling agent. Trainers may opt to list their horse for sale via the Makeover Marketplace, but there is no requirement to sell the horse after competition.
