NYRA will partner with the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (NYTHA) and New York Thoroughbred Breeders (NYTB) in hosting the second annual New York Thoroughbred Aftercare Day. The day will pay tribute to an array of organizations involved in finding new homes and careers for retired racehorses. Hats Off Day

Hats Off Day celebrates the impact of the horse industry with a day of free admission to the Lexington-based Kentucky Horse Park. Now in its 19th year, Hats Off Day offers family-friendly activities, starting from 3 to 10 p.m., including horse and pony rides, interactive educational booths, and a Grand Prix show jumping competition. Hats Off Day is the only day of the year when the Kentucky Horse Park admission is free.

The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) will be promoted at Ellis Park’s Charity Day on Saturday, August 20th, 2022. As Ellis Park winds down their 100th season of racing, the TAA will be recognized alongside three other charities. The Henderson, Kentucky-based track invites patrons to learn about the TAA during a day of racing that includes a race named for the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. The TAA booth will offer information on accredited aftercare and all 82 TAA-accredited charities. Additional items will be offered at the TAA booth in exchange for a donation. Three-year-olds and upward will go six furlongs for $61,000 in Saturday’s Race 7, the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance. A presentation of a TAA blanket and swag bag will be made to the winning connections following the running of the race. Ellis Park will continue to sell its 100-Year t-shirts for $18 on Charity Day with 10% of profits donated to the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, courtesy of Jim “Mattress Mack” McInvale, CEO of Gallery Furniture and owner of RunHappy. “The TAA is excited to return to Ellis Park for Charity Day,” said TAA Operations Consultant, Stacie Clark. “We always welcome the opportunity to speak with fans and industry participants about the impact of the TAA and our 82-accredited charities.”

Lollypop Farm: Trivia Trail Ride

Date: Saturday, September 10, 2022 Time 9:00am to 12:00pm Location: Mendon Ponds Park, 95 Douglas Road, Honeoye Falls NY 14472 About Join us for a trivia trail ride to benefit homeless horses at Lollypop Farm. Enjoy a beautiful ride through Mendon Ponds Park and meet new friends who love horses as much as you do! Not only will you have a wonderful day with your own horse, but you'll also be helping horses in need get the food, shelter, and veterinary care they need for a second chance. There will be several stations around the trail(each rider will receive a map upon arrival!)  where riders will answer horse-related trivia questions. For each correct answer, they will have one ticket placed into a raffle drawing. The goal is for riders to enjoy a laid-back ride, get to know some new friends, and maybe even win a prize! Proof of negative coggins and rabies, ATSM/SEI certified helmet, and signed 2022 Waiver.pdf are required to participate. Please bring them with you the morning of the event. Riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent.
