This week’s featured OTTB is Idle No More. “Indy” is a 2004 Kentucky-bred gelding who was trained by the legendary Bobby Frankel! Indy began his racing career in England before moving to California, racing seven times before being retired to Neigh Savers Foundation at the request of jockey Gary Stevens. Stevens “was very fond of him and wanted him to have another career,” which Neigh Savers was more than happy to provide. Indy and his adopter Christina are now tearing up the eventing scene after she received him as a college graduation gift.
Neigh Savers Foundation, located in Walnut Creek, CA, was founded in 2007 and accredited by the TAA in 2013. “Neigh Savers creates new beginnings for retired racing Thoroughbreds” and has transitioned almost 400 Thoroughbreds since its inception. The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose goal is to accredit and fund organizations that provide aftercare for Thoroughbreds. For more information on the TAA, visit: http://thoroughbredaftercare.org/.
