Open Petition earned nearly $18,000 in his 15 starts. The Maryland-bred son of MGSW Petionville sustained a fractured sesamoid and was retired through Beyond the Wire, a program that places horses from Maryland racetracks into TAA-accredited organizations.
Soon after TAA-accredited After the Races decided to take him and work with him through rehab. Over time and with excellent care, Open Petition made a full recovery and found a new home with adopter Brianna, who became an intern at Beyond the Wire. Brianna and “Opie,” as he’s fondly referred to now, have competed in several local shows and he continues to be in excellent health as he enjoys his new life.
